Following this acceptance, Axion Polymers was asked to submit a further 15 samples of the two polymers for showcasing in their libraries worldwide.

As a result, the materials are now being shown in Bangkok, Beijing, Cologne, Daegu, Istanbul, Milan, Seoulm Shanghai and Sweden.

Axion Polymers marketing manager Caroline Howarth said: “Having our recycled polymers featured in these worldwide Materials Libraries is a great opportunity to attract interest in our sustainable polymer product ranges, which will hopefully increase sales and the use of recycled plastics in many more innovative applications.”

Both materials are derived from post-consumer sources.

Axpoly PS01 is a high grade white polystyrene polymer from waste fridge plastic and is the first recycled PS with EU toy approval.

Its toy grade variant Axpoly r-PS01 satisfies British Standard testing to BS EN 71-3, which covers the specification for migration of certain elements from within the plastics used to mould toy components.
