A state-of-the-art facility for recycling precious metals from industrial scrap materials has been opened.

The facility, which will primarily recycle used catalytic converters and electronic scrap, is based in Cinderford, Gloucestershire. A similar facility was operated locally under the Engledhard Sales name and has now been expanded to include the current site, and rebranded under the name BASF Metals.

BASF global catalysts division precious metals services senior vice president Deon Carter said: “Through this investment, we are making a strong commitment to the Cinderford region, which will now serve as the hub of our European metals recycling operations. The precious metals recovered here will allow us to support BASF and other customers who are seeking a highly sustainable source of quality metals to support their production needs.”
