Waste and recycling firm WasteCare has taken over battery recycling business Loddon Recycling.

After over 40 years of trading, Loddon Recycling and Loddon Holdings were forced into administration as the company had struggled to stay afloat following a fire at its reprocessing plant in Hampshire.

As a major creditor of the business, WasteCare has stepped in to keep the facility operating and all staff have transferred to WasteCare.

WasteCare managing director Peter Hunt said: “We have worked closely with the management and staff of Loddons for several years and are delighted to invest in the future of the Hampshire business.

“We are confident that their hard work and dedication will continue to provide a high standard of customer care. In the coming months, it is our intention to expand the business at the site and provide a total collection and recycling service for the region.”

All activities and infrastructure are transferring to WasteCare including battery sorting, electrical equipment recycling and fluorescent tube collection and treatment.
