Last week’s administration and closure of Aylesford Newsprint saw big changes to the price of both news&pam and mixed paper grades.

In this week’s Intelligence market prices and analysis report, these two grades saw the biggest changes of the week.

Although there were some reports of up to £30 per tonne off the price of news&pam, these tended to be from companies that were already receiving very high prices based on existing relationships.

There was a lot of confusion in the market, with some able to secure similar news&pam prices to the week before.

But overall, the Intelligence price seen by subscribers in the report last Friday afternoon was £10 per tonne lower than last week.

Mixed paper also saw a price fall, with approximately £5 per tonne coming off the price of this grade.

Intelligence is a PDF report that is emailed to subscribers every Friday and current subscribers include most of the major waste management companies and recyclers in the UK. A special edition with less information is also provided free of charge to local authorities on the LARAC website.

The full Intelligence report contains price data for UK, China and US, trends analysis, commentary, economic information and data on export markets including the export guide that uses historic export data to give an indication of what exports might be like in future months.
