Boliden launches WEEE recycling facility in Sweden

A £120 million WEEE recycling facility has been opened by Boliden in Sweden.

The new plant increases the electronics capacity at its Ronnskar copper smelter to 120,000 tonnes per year.

Boliden president and chief executive Lennart Evrell said: “A growing share of the metal production will originate from recycling. With this project Boliden combines high environmental performance with good business returns.”

Ronnskar general manager Roger Sundqvist added: “Boliden Ronnskar has for many years been a technological leader in the field of recycling electronics. The expansion takes advantage of our extensive experience in recycling electronics and enhances our competitive position in a growing market.”
