China unveils plans to recycle half of its industrial solid waste by 2015

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China has said that the country will recycle 7 billion tonnes of industrial solid waste between 2011 and 2015.

This is double the amount of the 11th five year plan from 2006 to 2010 when China recycled a total of 3.6 billion tonnes of industrial solid waste.

By 2015, the annual recycling of industrial waste will reach 1.6 billion tonnes, which will be 50 per cent of the waste.
