Chinese imports fall in April

The amount of material imported into China continued to fall in April, according to the latest Chinese Custom’s statistics.

While the amount of paper and paperboard imported by China remained the same on 270,000 tonnes compared to March, the value of this fell to $319.34 million from $334.38 million a month earlier.

A total of 370,000 tonnes worth $1.157 billion of copper was imported in April down from 430,000 tonnes valued at $1.4 billion in March.

Aluminium was down to 210,000 tonnes at a value of $346 million from 220,000 tonnes worth £357 million in March.

PET dropped to 15,066 tonnes with a value of $27.6 million compared to 15,915 tonnes in March worth $29 million.

ABS fell to 122,194 tonnes at a value of $278 million compared to 146,732 tonnes at $329.76 million in March.
