Closed Loop Recycling managing director Chris Dow told scrap-ex news: “We’ve got funding that will get us rolling to increase the capacity of the site. Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2012.”

However, the company has also managed to increase capacity at the current facility.

Dow added: “We’ve made some changes to the plant. It is really humming now. In the first quarter of this year, we re-engineered it. As a result, in the second quarter we were able to increase the throughput of both PET and HDPE bottles. We are now putting through 90 to 100 tonnes of bottles every day.”

Closed Loop Recycling creates food grade rPET and rHDPE from processing both PET and HDPE bottles.
