REWORK Cradle to Cradle workwear is the first cotton work clothing that will not eventually end up in the dustbin, according to its manufacturers.

The clothing is designed in such a way that all the constituent parts can be reused.

It is the result of a partnership between workwear producer Van Puljenbroek Textiel, textile service companies Berendsen and Lavans and waste management services provider Van Gansewinkel. The workwear is designed in such a way that all its constituent parts can be resused.

Old and worn REWORK clothing can be used to spin new yarn or to make compost.

It was designed from the outset to enable reuse of the materials. For example, the dye was designed to be more environmentally friendly than traditional methods by not using harmful substances, and as a result the raw material can be used to create new workear.

The clothing has received cradle to cradle certification from the Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency and was given a silver certificate for meeting environmental standards on the following criteria:

  1. Impact of materials on human health and the environment
  2. Degree of reuse of materials
  3. Energy consumption
  4. Water consumption
  5. Working conditions.
