Andrew Perkins is to be replaced by Gemma Barratt as head of recycling at Aylesford Newsprint.

She will take up the position at the end of this month and will lead both the area manager team and her existing operations team and will provide a management link between these two parts of the business. She will also oversee infrastructure developments which will impact on day-to-day operational activities.

Gemma has been with Aylesford since 2006 and is currently the recycling operations manager responsible for the recovered fibre store and management of recovered paper on site.

She said: “I will have an excellent team both out in the field and at the mill whose combined efforts will be focused on supporting our suppliers and partners, both existing and new, building relationships to secure the continuous supply of good quality material and ensuring Aylesford’s enduring reputation for service excellence is maintained.”

Andrew Perkins will be joining Smurfit Kappa soon, but while the new strategy will evolve, Gemma does not expect suppliers and partners to notice any major operational changes.

She added: “Because I’ve been with Aylesford for the last five years and have worked closely not only with current head of recycling Andrew Perkins, but the entire recycling team, we’re all aligned in how the department works and how it will move forward.”
