UK eddy current separator manufacturer Magnapower has sold its first machine in America.

Action Recyclers in Milwaukee has bought the eddy current separator to allow it to separate aluminium from PET and glass.

The Magnapower machine contains a vibrating feeder, drum magnet and belt cleaning brush and is capable of processing five tonnes per hour.

It was sold by Chicago company Alan Ross Machinery which Magnapower has an informal arrangement with to sell its kit on an exclusive basis in America.

Magnapower director Robert Jones told SCM: “We are delighted with this deal to sell our first eddy current separator in the United States. It is a very high performance eddy current separator that exceeds the competitor units. The advantage of it is that it can separate more and smaller amounts than the competitors can.

“The UK market is not what it was, so we have to expand our market. We are also expanding into Europe, in Scandinavia, and we have sold a few into Germany.”

He added that the eddy current separator bought by Action Recyclers is the second unit to have been sent out there, as a demonstrator unit is now with Alan Ross Machinery and it will be on display at the ISRI Convention in Las Vegas in April.
