Management changes at EMR

Metal giant European Metal Recycling (EMR) has announced the appointment of a new chief executive and chairman.

Colin Iles, who was executive director and chief executive of US operations has been appointed chairman of EMR with immediate effect. He replaces Phillip Sheppard who died, aged 64, in August last year.

The current executive director and chief executive of European operations Chris Sheppard becomes group chief executive responsible for EMR’s global operations.

Colin Iles said: “These changes clearly lay a very strong foundation following the passing of Phillip. EMR has been built into a great company with an excellent management team and I believe, with this structure, we are securing our continued growth and success.”

Chris Sheppard added: “The restructuring of responsibilities provides a clear platform from which the strong performance and heritage of EMR can be continued into the future. The company has a first-rate management team, great employees and an exciting future.”

EMR is one of the world’s largest metal recycling companies with 150 facilities globally and a turnover of around £2.5 billion.
