Magnetic separation systems to remove non-ferrous metals have been installed by Eriez Magnetics at SITA UK wood recycling facilities.

SITA’s specialist wood recycling plants in Preston, Ashington and Perth produce a high quality fuel that must be free of nails, hinges, aluminium plates and other metal items.

Eriez Magnetics has installed an eddy current separator system including an Eriez OBM vibratory feeder in line with a 2cm wide RevX-E eccentric eddy current separator (ECS) unit together with a modular magnetic drum to remove ferrous metals prior to the ECS.

SITA UK wood sector manager Adie Mason said: “We supply a high grade, waste wood fuel so it is essential that our product is free from contaminants. Our requirement was very specific, and so were our deadlines as the equipment delivery had to coincide with the overall installation of the production sites. The equipment was delivered to deadline and we have been impressed with the high standard of after-sales support.”
