The Recycling Association has welcomed CCIC London as a new member demonstrating the increasingly close working relationship between exporters of recyclable material to China and its enforcement agencies.

CCIC London is part of the China Certification & Inspection Group (CCIC) – the agency that is accredited by the State General Administration of the People’s Republic of China for Quality Supervision and Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) to undertake pre-inspections of material for export to China.

The Recycling Association chief executive Simon Ellin said: “I am delighted that CCIC London has joined The Recycling Association.

“A number of our members are exporters, and by having CCIC London as a member of the organisation, it means that we can engage in dialogue to ensure that we are sending the best quality material possible to China as well as meeting its regulations on out-throw.”

CCIC London managing director Shouyun Huang (pictured) added: “As a competent inspection agency for pre-shipment inspection of scrap material exported from the UK to China, CCIC London has been working with the UK recycling industry for over ten years and has developed a good relationship with The Recycling Association and many of its members over that time.

“By becoming a member of the Association, we can support its efforts to step up the quality of material for export from UK to China. This is also important not just for meeting Chinese Government regulations, but also to ensure Chinese buyers of material continue to recognise the UK as a premium destination to buy recyclable materials.”

The move by CCIC London to become a member of The Recycling Association has also been backed by other members that export to China.

Cycle Link International Holding president Lai En said: “The links between China and the UK continue to get stronger all of the time. One of the most established relationships is between exporters of material to China such as Cycle Link and Chinese mill groups.

“With CCIC London joining The Recycling Association, the relationship between the recycling industry, the Chinese enforcement agencies, and the Chinese mill groups will become even stronger and enable us to work towards improving the quality of material we send there.

“By improving quality, we are also protecting the future of the UK recycling sector by ensuring that Chinese mills will always look to the UK as a key market, especially as it increasingly has a number of different countries to choose from, as well as its own growing domestic market.”
