Cornish recycling and waste management firm H&A Recycling is to open a £2.5 million materials recycling facility this year.

It will process more than 30,000 tonnes a year of locally-collected material and will become part of the integrated waste management operation run by H&A Recycling at its expanding Redruth site.

The facility is due to open later this year, with the equipment and engineering for the site provided by O.Kay Engineering.

H&A Recycling managing director Allan Holmes said: “This is great news for our customers and great news for Cornwall. We’re building this MRF to give customers a new solution for recycling their waste.

“They don’t want to send it into landfill any more than we do. This is the sustainable solution they are seeking.”

The new plant will take in all forms of commercial material, and over a series of screen, magnets, picking lines and other advanced technologies, will process and recover cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, film, wood and other recyclables.

It is likely to be the most advanced facility in the region and its modular design will allow it to grow as more expected tonnage comes through the gate.
