German compliance scheme The Landbell Group has become a shareholder in global recycling and compliance company European Recycling Platform SAS (ERP).

Currently, ERP offers recycling and compliance services for WEEE, batteries and packaging to more than 2,500 customers in 32 countries across the globe.

By joining forces, the two companies will create a one-stop-shop compliance and recycling service enabling customers to comply with various legal regulations worldwide.

Landbell offers packaging waste compliance services, along with take back and disposal of WEEE and operates bottle deposit schemes.

Its chief executive Jan Patrick Schulz said: “For Landbell Group, this acquisition of shares is an important step in our ongoing pursuit to provide comprehensive and quality recycling solutions to both existing and new customers in Europe.

“With its best-in-class, scalable cross-border compliance and recycling solutions, ERP is the idea partner for us.”

ERP chief executive Umberto Raiteri added: “Today marks a milestone in the lifetime of ERP. We should all be very proud of our achievements to date and with the Landbell Group, we will have a shareholder that is committed to investing both strategically and financially in the global growth of the company.”

Founded by Hewlett Packard, Electrolux, Sony and Procter & Gamble in 2002 in response to the introduction of the European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive, these companies will remain shareholders in ERP.

ERP will maintain its own brand identity and all employees will remain with the organisation.
