A $500 million recycling park has opened in Neijiang, and is the largest recycling centre in south west China.

Based in the south east of the Sichuan region, the 5,000 acre recycling park was opened on 5 June and will bring together 240 recycling businesses into one area.

1.5 million tonnes of material will be processed with scrap material being collected from Chongqing, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Henan and other regions for reprocessing. Materials will be sold to 10 cities around China.

The facility comes as a result of an agreement signed in 2009 between China Resources Development and the Neijiang Municipal People’s Government.
