LARAC has announced that Carole Taylor will be taking over from Andrew Bird as the organisation’s tenth chair in January 2018.

Carole Taylor, who is currently one of the two vice-chairs of LARAC, has previously been treasurer of the organisation, as well being part of the Executive since 2002.

Commenting on her new position, she said: “It is a privilege to become the next LARAC chair after serving on the Executive for a number of years. With so much change and uncertainty it is crucial that LARAC works hard on behalf of its members and I intend to give them the best representation possible.”

LARAC has confirmed that Andrew will still be a member of the Executive as he is already half-way through his two-year term as a nationally elected representative.

Outgoing chair Andrew Bird said: I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as chair of LARAC and feel as an organisation we have grown over the past four years, building on the work of previous chairs before me. Carole knows the industry and LARAC extremely well and I am pleased she is taking on the role of chair and I know LARAC will continue to grow under her leadership”.

A main task for Carole Taylor will be to oversee developments of a new four-year business plan for the organisation that represents local authority recycling officers.
