Trade body the Resource Association has had an official launch in Northern Ireland and welcomed three new members on board.

At a launch event at the Parliament Buildings in Belfast, arc21, Romaquip and the Cherry Plastics Group all joined the trade organisation.

Speaking at the event Northern Ireland Environment Minister Alex Attwood said: “The environment is one of Northern Ireland’s most valuable and important assets. In the current downturn there is a critical need to both promote resource and energy efficiency and to develop the environment as an asset to grow business, create jobs, attract visitors and build strength.

“As Environment Minister, I will use my powers, not simply to manage but to develop this asset and I have already put steps in motion to ensure this happens sooner rather than later.

“To improve resource efficiency, I intend to avail of all opportunities to promote increased waste reduction and heighten the reuse and recycling messages.”

The organisation recently held its English launch at the Houses of Parliament.
