OCC and mixed rise a little, strange plastic PRN movement

The price of OCC and mixed paper increased a touch last week on the back of a widening spread.

Those in need of material were prepared to push up prices, while those with less demand either stayed where they were or lowered a little. The overall effect was to push up the price of OCC by £2 per tonne and mixed paper by £1 per tonne.

Although the price of plastics remained the same, some strangely high data in the National Packaging Waste Database pushed down the PRN price reversing gains seen in the previous week.

Metal prices were largely unchanged.
