Fylde Coast Metals’ planning application has been granted by Blackpool Council to open a metal and recycling processing centre.

The centre plans to receive metal and wood from local tradesmen and contractors. Waste removal and haulage contractors will also use the same facilities to separate the metals and wood in their loads

A spokesman from Blackpool Council planning department said: “The proposal has been considered in relation to the Blackpool Local Plan 2001 to 2016 and is in accordance with those policies and there are no other material considerations which weigh sufficiently against the proposal such as to warrant refusal.”

Although dozens of neighbours disagreed with to the original plans for the metal processing centre, saying that the work caused noise nuisance in a residential area, the plans to construct the site in a far less residential will go ahead.

A statement from Fylde Coast Metals stated: “The site is located in an industrial area supported by local trades and businesses. There are no anticipated environmental issues to prevent the operational activities. Fylde Coast Metals will continue to work closely with the authorities to reduce the illegal activities associated in the metal industry.”
