Recycling and waste management company SITA UK has opened a new facility that will enable it to bulk up paper, cardboard, cans, glass and plastic bottles.

The materials will come from residents of the London Borough of Hounslow to the £500,000 facility in Sunbury and will have an environmental benefit as material will not need to be transported outside of London before going to recycling facilities for processing.

SITA UK general manager Steve Holgate said: “The opening of the new £500,000 dry-recyclable bulking facility and vehicle depot at the Hanworth Industrial Estate in Sunbury is another step in improving the service we offer to residents in Hounslow.

“By re-locating our bulking station and vehicle depot to Sunbury, we are able to make considerable environmental savings, which as one of the greenest businesses in the UK is of major importance to us.”
