While US paper traders have previously found growth opportunities in the Chinese market, more recently the domestic market has shown more promise.

According to trade journal Recycling Today, prices for grades such as OCC, ONP and mixed paper have been rallying in the domestic market with US board mills becoming more aggressive.

It reports that domestic demand is expected to hold up fairly well during the next several months, though prices are not likely to rebound sharply. Prices for mixed paper and ONP have held up better than pricing for OCC.

A price of $140 dollars is quoted for OCC by the publication.
