Chancellor George Osborne has said that Defra is one of four Government departments to have agreed average spending cuts of 30%.

Ahead of the Spending Review later in the month, George Osborne said that Defra, along with the Department for Local Government and Communities, Department of Transport and the Treasury had all agreed to reduce spending by an average of 30% over the next four years.

WRAP may be one of the organisations set for further cuts, having had its grant funding cut by 24% to £13.3 million in 2015/16.

George Osborne said: “The resource spending – that is the day-to-day spending of those four departments – will be cut by 30% on average in total over the next four years.

“These savings will be achieved by a combination of further efficiencies in departments, closing low value programmes, and focusing on our priorities as a country.”
