North Wales scrap yards targeted by police to recover stolen metal

Three scrap yards in north Wales have been involved in a police operation to recover stolen metal.

North Wales Police, along with British Transport Police, Scottish Power, BT Openreach, Smartwater, HM Revenue and Customs, VOSA and the Environment Agency Wales undertook three operations at scrap yards. One of these was in Wrexham and another two were in Saltney Ferry. This was under the national Operation Pallid scheme.

Stolen wire and cable was recovered from the yard in Wrexham, while cable and components were recovered from the Saltney Ferry yards.

North Wales Police sergeant Chris Griffiths said: “The yards and local business premises are working with the police and assisting with enquiries.”
