A planning application for an energy centre at Magnetic Park, Desborough that will provide heat and power has been submitted by Origin Renewable Energy.

It is proposing to build a facility that will convert non-hazardous household and business waste into heat and power supplied to nearby businesses and homes.

The proposed 96,000 tonne facility will use gasification technology from ENERGOS, to convert the residual waste into heat and power.

The energy centre will also incorporate a visitors centre that will offer training, education and meeting facilities to the local community.

Northamptonshire County Council received the planning application at the end of May, and this has now been validated by the council.

A consultation will now begin with the local authority consulting statutory consultees such as the Environment Agency, Highways Authority, Kettering Borough Council and Desborough Town Council and will also seek the views of local residents and other interested parties.
