MT-Energie has completed biological and mechanical commissioning of a second anaerobic digestion (AD) plant for Barfoot Energy Projects.
Part of UK fresh vegetable farming and processing Barfoots Group, the company is generating 1.2MW of energy along with digestate at the new facility from organic shop returns, expired or wrong labelled food. The packaging is also sent for recycling.
After building its first plant on the south coast of England, Barfoot’s second facility is in Herriard, Hampshire.
Barfoots managing director Julian Marks said: “This has been a challenging project with many lessons learnt, but continues the development of our experience in this sector.
“It has been essential for us to count on an experienced and high profile technology partner, such as MT-Energie UK.”
