TOMRA Sorting acquires Belgium’s BEST to work with TITECH

Specialist advanced optical sorting firm BEST has been bought by TOMRA Sorting.

It will use the technology from BEST along with that of its other firms TITECH for the recycling industry and ODENBERG for the food industry. Closing of the transaction is expected to happen at the beginning of July.

As a result, customers will now benefit from a wider range of sensor technologies including laser, camera, fluo, LED, x-ray, shortwave infrared, NIR/VIS and MIR spectroscopy.

TOMRA Sorting head Rune Narthinussen said: “By combining leading technologies and service capabilities, our customers will see products with higher performance and an increased level of service offerings.”

BEST chief executive Paul Berghmans added: “BEST and TOMRA Sorting complement each other perfectly in terms of technology and market coverage. This will benefit our customers and strengthen the combined organisation.”
