A three-year contract worth just under £6 million has been signed for Veolia to provide a range of recycling and treatment services for Siemens.

It will cover multiple waste streams including commercial, industrial and hazardous waste.

The contract is split over four contracted lots with Veolia supplying recycling and treatment services for up to 90 Siemens manufacturing sites and office locations across the UK.

As part of the deal, Veolia will provide recycling and waste collections to on and offshore wind power sites predominantly in Scotland.

The recycling of exotic metals from Siemens manufacturing and maintenance plants that design, build and service industrial turbo machinery is also part of the contract.

Veolia senior executive vice president UK and Ireland Estelle Brachlianoff said: “Clearly we share a common interest with Siemens in environmental thought leadership, the circular economy and the future of urban sustainability.

“This far-sighted contract utilises our fully integrated environmental services offering and will enable Siemens to take a holistic approach to its varied waste streams and treat them in a sustainable way, particularly by reusing more of the materials they produce.”
