Viridor buys paper recycling company Pulp Friction

Kent-based paper collection and processing business Pulp Friction has been acquired by Viridor for £9 million.

Pulp Friction processes around 100,000 tonnes of paper and card per year from its site in Erith, Kent.

Viridor chief executive Colin Drummond said: “The acquisition of this paper business is in line with the group’s strategy of expanding its waste management activities, particularly in collection and recycling.

“The acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing in its first full year of operation.”

Pulp Friction and its related business SBS Paper have been purchased for a total of £9 million, which was made up of £8.6 million in cash plus acquired net debt.
