Polyolefins producer Borealis is investing 15 million euros in mtm plastics GmbH’s post consumer plastic waste recycling plant. Borealis acquired mtm in July 2016.
Based in Niedergebra, Germany, mtm plastics recovers mixed post-consumer plastic waste, producing polyolefin recyclates.
Borealis, whose head quaters is in Austria and who posted a net profit of 1.1 billion euros in 2016, will also spend 2.5 million euros on mtm’s sister company mtm compact.
Commenting on the investment, Alfred Stern, Borealis designated CEO said: ‘This investment in our mechanical recycling capabilities at mtm is key in realising our growth ambitions in the circular economy and it underlines our continuing commitment to mtm.
