An OCC line delivered by Austrian technology giant Andritz has started operation in a mill in Thailand.

United Paper Public Company fired up the 550-bdmt-per-day system in its Prachinburi plant.

The new line is the second installed by Andritz at the mill. It will process a mixture of AOCC and LOCC ready to become high-quality linerboard grades.

Andritz said the pulping system would ensure “superior slushing of the raw material at minimum fibre loss” as well as “highly efficient separation and removal of rejects”.

Energy savings could be up to 25 per cent compared with alternatives, the firm claimed.

United Paper managing director Wachara Chinsettawong said: “Execution of the entire project was smooth, fast and highly professional.

“The two lines from Andritz are equipped with separate drum and LC pulpers, which gives us more flexibility in the use of raw materials. We can’t wait to expand our business with our new premium grades.”

Thailand-based United Paper Public Company was founded in 1994 and produces various kraft paper grades for liner board and corrugated medium.
