Visitors to Apple Stores in the UK will now be able to trade in their old Apple mobile phone when they upgrade.

Previously, this service, as part of Apple’s reuse and recycling programme, was only available online. But it has now been rolled out to all UK Apple Stores as well.

An Apple spokesman said: “iPhones hold great value. So, Apple Retail Stores in the UK are launching a new programme to assist customers who wish to bring in their previous-generation iPhone for reuse or recycling.

“In addition to helping support the environment, customers will be able to receive a credit for their returned phone that they can use towards the purchase of a new iPhone.”

Phones will be disassembled once taken to the stores, and where possible components will be reused. If this is not possible, then the phone components will be recycled.
