The office of the British Plastics Federation has begun housing an exhibition of iconic plastic items curated by the Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP).

Every six months, the theme of the exhibition will be changed with the first theme You Can Do It With Plastics showing off the buoyancy, flexibility, recycling, enablement, colour, sustainability, living hinges and insulation properties of plastic.

One of the key exhibits under this theme is a pair of swimming trunks designed by Stella McCartney for Adidas for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics. These are made from 80 per cent recycled nylon.

MoDiP head Susan Lambert said: “Plastics are capable of greater transformation than any other materials group. In this exhibition, we wish to explore their design freedom and beneficial impact on society.”
