CIWM has announced that its training arm has been approved for inclusion on the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s register of apprenticeship training providers.
The register contains all the organisations that are approved to provide apprenticeship training for employers through the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy Scheme.
According to CIWM, skills are “a priority”, not only for supporting the professional development of its members but for ensuring that the sector has the skills needed to manage and provide the transition from waste to resource management and more circular practices.
CIWM products and business development manager Anna Havard said: “This is an important opportunity to upskill the sector’s workforce across a range of disciplines but we do know that some employers are struggling to understand the Apprenticeship Levy scheme’s rules and restrictions and access the funding.
“As a first step, therefore, CIWM is scoping out what the resource and waste sector needs in terms of information, advice and support to capitalise on the opportunities offered by the levy scheme, and explore how it can complement existing training and development strategies.”
