All clear PET bottles should be recycled at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to Coca Cola.

The company will work with the London 2012 waste management company SITA UK, to collect all of the PET bottles from the Olympic park. They will then be sent to the joint venture Coca Cola has with Eco Plastics, Continuum Recycling, to be turned back into plastic bottles for use by Coca Cola.

Additionally, at all London 2012 venues, Coca Cola products will be served in bottles that contain 25 per cent rPET.

Coca Cola country manager Jon Woods said: “London 2012 provides a spectacular opportunity for everyone in the UK to raise the bar on sustainability.

“We know from experience that our sponsorship can inspire our own business to take a leap forward in sustainability, and we’re committed to building on what we’ve learned to help LOCOG make London 2012 the most sustainable games of modern times.”
