A community outfit in Cornwall has launched a returnable-cups initiative in a bid to reduce waste.
The Circular Mindset CIC said more than 100 drinks were served at Crooklets Beach Cafe in the seaside town of Bude in containers designed to be refilled.
People pay a £1 deposit for the Circular & Co cup and get the cash back when they return it.
A Crowdfunder campaign to raise £4,000 to get the scheme up and running has secured more than 75 per cent of its target.
The Circular Mindset said on social media: “The launch of Cup Club Bude on Saturday 11 October was a huge success.
“Guilt-free coffee was the theme of the day, redefining what responsible tourism looks like in Cornwall.
“In a town built around its beaches, we’re showing that sustainability doesn’t have to mean sacrifice — it can be simple, visible and community-led.
“Tourism is vital to Cornwall’s economy — but it’s our shared responsibility to ensure it works for our spaces not against them.”
