According to a new study, the number of customers buying fruit and vegetables increases between 13% and 16% when they are displayed in corrugated board trays rather than on steel shelves or in plastic containers.Â
The study, which was carried out by French trade association Carton Ondulé de France and consulting firm Négosciences, had the aim of understanding the role of packaging in the consumer experience. Â
It discovered that the nature of packaging has a direct impact on the time spent in the section, showing that a customer spends between 17% and 50% more time in front of the stands if the fruit and vegetables are packaged in corrugated board trays rather than plastic containers or without packaging.
