Energizer creates world’s first domestic rechargeable battery using recycled hybrid vehicle batteries

Battery manufacturer Energizer has developed a new AA and AAA rechargeable battery that uses 4% recycled batteries.

Using recycled materials from hybrid vehicles, the Energizer recharge follows on from the standard Energizer EcoAdvanced battery that also contained recycled batteries.

Energizer chief consumer officer Michelle Atkinson said: “Energizer Recharge is another step forward in our vision that all Energizer batteries contain some amount of recycled battery materials.

“Our scientists partnered with rechargeable suppliers to build on the knowledge and experience from Energizer EcoAdvanced and identified a process to use recycled content in our rechargeable batteries without sacrificing performance, an idea previously not thought possible by industry experts.”
