Enva CEO James Priestley

Waste management giant Enva has appointed former Renewi director James Priestley as chief executive.

He will succeed Tom Walsh, who took the helm in 2017 but is stepping down after the company was acquired by I Squared Capital.

Priestley worked for fellow waste firm Renewi for seven years, most recently as managing director of its Specialities Division.

He is a University of Oxford graduate, a qualified chemical engineer and has held management roles at Ford, British Airways and Tesco.

Enva chair Jonson Cox welcomed Priestley to the company.

“I believe he will make a positive impact on our commercial, safety and environmental performance and will lead the continued growth of the company over the coming years,” he said.

Priestley said he was “excited” to take up his new role.

“Enva and the wider resource recovery sector are vital to the continued development of the circular economy,” he added. “I look forward to working with the Enva team and all our stakeholders to continue the growth and development of the business at this exciting time.”
