Essex recycler doubles capacity with £5m investment

Essex-based waste firm Dunmow Group has opened a £5m recycling plant.

The company said the Kiverco system doubled its processing capacity to 600 tonnes of waste per day.

It replaces plant that had been in operation at the Chelmsford recycling centre for more than a decade.

The new facility uses advanced screening and separation technology to maximise material recovery.

Waste is sized and conveyed through magnets, screeners and precision mechanical sorting equipment before being separated into 17 dedicated bays for various recyclable streams. Final quality checks are carried out in specialist picking cabins.

The plant is equipped with CCTV using people detection, thermal imaging, early fire detection and fire suppression systems.

Dunmow Group chief executive Sam Malins hailed “a major step forward” for the company.

“It dramatically increases the amount of waste we can recycle and helps us divert even more material away from landfill and towards sustainable energy-from-waste solutions,” he added.
