With summer now well behind us, the Every Can Counts campaign is celebrating its achievements in targeting 600,000 people at six major festivals this year.

Every Can Counts was encouraging people to recycle on site at both sites of the V Festival, Leeds Festival, Global Gathering, Download and Latitude.

At each festival, campers were offered incentives for handing in their used drinks cans to the Every Can Counts team. These included a can exchange, where limited edition t-shirts were given in return for a bag of empty cans.

For every drinks can handed in, festival goers could take part in a range of games for a chance to win tickets to a 2014 festival.

Every Can Counts also ran its social media Candamonium competition on Facebook that reached 550,000 unique online users.

Staff from Carlsberg UK, which joined the Every Can Counts programme earlier this year as a funding partner, also took part in the activities at Latitude and Leeds.

Every Can Counts marketing and communications manager Diana Caldwell said: “Every Can Counts aims to encourage people to recycle the cans they use when they are out and about, and supporting recycling activity at UK festivals is a key part of the programme.

“Festivals enable us to reach a key group of can consumers and talk to them about recycling while they have a can in their hand, and thank them for taking part with fun incentives and rewards.”
