Dozens of firefighters yesterday were called out to battle a fire engulfing thousands of tonnes of metal at an EMR scrap metal facility in Willesden, London.

Eight fire engines and more than 40 firefighters were on the scene battling to contain a fire at part of the yard that contained 3,000 tonnes of scrap metal.

London Fire Brigade station manager Pushminder Vagarwal said at the time: “Our fire crews are working really hard to get this fire under control but it’s likely that we’ll be here for some time.”

It was expected that the scrap yard would be able to open at some point today.
