With consortium members placing 100,000 tonnes of PS products on the market each year, they have said they will maintain this to make the recycling of PS viable.

Additionally, sorting technology is improving according to PS25, that will enable better separation of PS.

Finally, while mechanical recycling technology for PS exists, the consortium sees chemical recycling as offering more suitability for food contact PS.

In particular, PS25 has identified upcoming plants from Michelin in France, INEOS Styrolution in UK, and Invader Plastics 2 Chemicals and Trinseo both in Belgium as potential solutions for circular recycling of PS.

Therefore, PS25 has decided to commit to assisting with financing of developing circular recycling of PS in France, guarantee purchase of recycled PS content, and continue work on the eco-design of packaging to better meet the specifications of recyclers.

PS25 members are French companies Andros; Agromousquetaires; Groupe Bigard; Celene; Cooperl Arc Atlantique; Eurial UF; Galliance; MLC; Lactalis; Groupe LDC; Triballat Noyal; Schreiber; Yeo Frais; Yoplait.
