Growth will come from Asia Pacific, South America and Central and Eastern Europe, according to The Future of Global PET Packaging to 2017 report.

Currently, the Asia Pacific region has overtaken both North America and Western Europe in the period from 2007 to 2012 accounting for a projected 29.4 per cent of world PET packaging this year followed by North America with 24.1 per cent and Western Europe with 19.7 per cent.

The report also cautions against whether the uptake of rPET will become widespread and will be dependent on whether it costs less that virgin PET.
