Waste firm Enva has issued a “sincere apology” after a massive blaze disrupted activities at an electronics-recycling site it runs in Scotland.
More than 10 fire engines rushed to the facility in Linwood, west of Glasgow, after an alarm was raised on the evening of Sunday 23 June.
Three remained in attendance on Tuesday lunchtime as crews worked to eliminate the final hotspots.
Enva said in a statement on Tuesday 25 June: “We would like to thank local residents and businesses for their understanding and reiterate our sincere apology for any inconvenience caused by the incident at our WEEE recycling facility in Linwood.
“We now have the majority of our vehicles and drivers back out collecting waste and recycling from our customers.
“Our Linwood general waste facility is still within the police cordon and as such remains closed and unable to accept deliveries of waste.
“We are hopeful that this situation will change in the next day or two. For now, we will continue to use the third-party sites identified on our robust contingency plans to ‘tip’ material and ensure it is sustainably managed.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said there had been no reported casualties and an investigation would commence “in due course”.
