The Environmental Leaders Ireland Fund will be under the company’s existing Irish UCITS umbrella structure and will seek to exploit the growth in environmental markets for long term investors.

It will invest globally providing exposure to resource efficiency companies across the market cap spectrum.

Impax head of listed equities Bruce Jenkyn-Jones said: “We are pleased to expand our product range for UK investors. We believe that the Impax Environmental Leaders Fund is well aligned with strong growth in investor interest in positive climate and environmental solutions.

“Investors are waking up to the inevitability of the long term decline in the energy and natural resources sectors and an accelerated shift towards decarbonisation. Last December’s Paris Climate Agreement is proving to be an additional strong catalyst for these markets.”

The portfolio of the new fund is expected to number 40-60 stocks and to have a low turnover.

It will invest approximately 10% of its funds in waste management and technologies, 30% in energy efficiency and 26% in water infrastructure and technology with the remainder in other environmental sectors.
