Indonesia’s Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has said that the country needs more plastic recycling infrastructure to enable it to reduce imports.
Currently, the country has a need for 2 million tonnes of recycled plastic each year he said, but its domestic plastic recycling infrastructure contributes only 913,000 tonnes. The remaining 1.087 million tonnes is imported.
The Minister said: “The national plastic recycling industry plays a crucial role in fulfilling demand for raw materials and promoting the competitive edge of the domestic downstream plastic industry.
