Half a million tonnes of recycling is set to be processed by a newly opened materials recycling facility operated by Leeds Paper Recycling.
The £5 million MRF will sort paper, metals, glass, wood, textiles, organic waste, construction and demolition waste and organics will also be used for composting.
Leeds Paper Recycling managing director James Todd said: “We have constantly invested in recycling technology, staff training and new systems to reach our goal of a zero landfill super MRF with a collection service and recycling solutions to meet the demand from small and large blue chip companies.”
Leeds Paper Recycling plans to send the waste to UK recycling facilities as well as for export in Europe and the Far East.
The company has more than 50 years experience in the recycling and waste management industry. A previous MRF was destroyed by fire in 2009, but the company had its MRF line up and running within three months.
