Malaysian plastic recycler reports handling 28% more material after China ban

The ban on imports of plastics to China has led to one Malaysian recycling company handling 28% more material.

In an interview with theĀ Xinhua news agency, Heng Hiap Industries has said year-on-year it has seen this growth since the Chinese ban was implemented.

Its chief executive Seah Kian Hoe said: “We are working towards our target sales growth of 25% this year.”

More than 70% of the finished product is sent abroad to 30 countries, including China and exports of this to China are expected to grow.

“We are talking to some potential customers in China. The timing and opportunity are good for us.”
